The Baptist church of Mizoram (BCM) Zoram Baptist Mission ( former ZBM) choose Dhubri to be the centre for spreading the gospel of salvation, Dhubri is situated on the bank of river Brahmaputra covered by green canopy of trees and bamboo, before the independence of India, the English people from Europe had already settled in Dhubri town for business and not for the sake of gospel of salvation which paved way for the Zoram Baptist Mission (ZBM) to where the gospel of salvation amongst the people in and about Dhubri area. The English settlement in Dhubri owned vast lands. Church building and cemeteries which made it easy for Zoram Baptist Mission (ZBM).

After the Independent of India and the leaving of the English settlement from Dhubri. The Gov't of Assam took into custody a church and a cemetery leaving another cemetery in the hands of the Zoram Baptist Mission (ZBM) gratefully which is now where this very Bethel Baptist Mission School (BBMS) Church Road Bidyapara stands where the mission runs. After The retirement of the first ever ZBM Missionary Rev.C. Khuala in Dhubri, 1st Jan 1977, The ZBM committee appointed me to take in charge.

I, along with my family left for Dhubri on 2nd Jan 1977 and by the grace of God we solely reached Dhubri at 9:00 pm 3rd Jan 1977. On 11th Jan 1977, I and rev. C. Khuala conducted personal meeting where we had a serious discussion on various important issues. There were certain things he asked of me to accomplish and the thing he considered most important what he said was to establish an English medium school here in Dhubri otherwise, our ministry won't be the effective. And saying all that had to be said and done, he handed me in charge of the mission in Dhubri.

Then after closing our meeting with prayer, he, with his wife together left for Mizoram by bus the following night. The establishment of BBMS God had called me to work Dhubri Mission through the ZBM, and by replacing Rev. C. Khuala who had asked of me to establish English Medium School as one of the instruments for our Misson work in Dhubri. After years rolled by, The BCM assemble made Dhubri a separate field in the year 1989. The Dhubri field committee placed a request before the ZBM asking for the establishment of an English Medium School in Dhubri field.

The BCM assembly on march 1991 permitted to open the English medium school in Dhubri. By the grace of God on Jan. 21, 1992 the school was finally opened. When the BBMS was being inaugurated on 21, 1992, Mr. Lungria ding aps. Guwahati unveiling the plaque to lay the foundation stone of the Bethel Baptist Mission School (BBMS) in Dhubri as well as elder lalmangkhuma headmaster Baptist Mission School. Birpara (WB) offered his thanks giving and asking for blessing prayer to God. Thereafter, reception continue to be led by rev. C. Zatawna field director and headmaster of the then BBMS gave thanks to all the invites who came to witness opening ceremony of the BBMS followed by inviting them to join the reception table for entertainments.

The term "Bethel" means " House of God", It is the place where people come together to worship God as they called in the Bethel. When this School was being opened. The Mother Church in Mizoram that was sponsoring that year, The people of God in selecting different places had come together to worship God that was called as the place of Bethel. They were renewing their commitment to God and were happy in the Lord. In remembrance of the people of God in Mizoram renewing their commitment to God and the opening of the school falls in the same year. and as such we named the school, “Bethel Baptist Mission School”. ~by Rev.C.Zatawna

The need of the people

The people that we are presently working amongst require both physically and spiritually upliftment Dhubri was a place where there were few good private and a regular Gov't school. Dhubri needed a really good school. Similary our mission enterprise are really in need to come to our school because they do not have good school in the villages Taking this into consideration the ministry amongst the people through the establishment of BBMS are really urgent,

So children could be good citizen

There are children due to illiteracy and unhealthy family background gets generally indulged into criminal activities which are dangerous and burdensome to the society If we do not start the basic principle of proper proper upbringing in the school itself, the young and children are a lost cause. So a school is an institution which is where children are nourished so they would be good citizens.

To bring out the leadership quality amongst the children in the development of the country

In order to develop the country requires a capable leaders. Without a capable leader, there is no development in the country. The purpose of BBMS is to bring out the capable leader who will work for the development of the country.

A place teaching the children to Christ

The school is a place where the parents drop their children in our hands in order to look after them. So they could be looked after all day long. During their stay in the school,we freely share the word and love of God to the children in our school and to see that every soul of the children are saved in this school.

A place for bringing up good and righteous Church leaders

The first and foremost thing that a fellowship in a Church need is a responsible and educated leader. It is the responsibility of our school to bring out such leaders. The students from our school, even the ones that have not passed their matriculation examination are all usable and potential. The object of BBMS is to make and mould the students to be the future leaders of the church.

It is a place of attaining and dispensing of knowledge and education

Provided with all the above mentioned topics, our school is a institution where knowledge and education is both acquired. The Lord has been blessing our missionaries,

Our Motto

Motto Image

The motto of Bethel Baptist Mission School is " Yahweh our strength", Isaiah 12:2 composed by Ms. K. Sangkungi wife of Rev. C. Zatawna. The term Yahweh is derived from Hebrew word meaning God. In the Hebrew Bible it is written as "YHWH" Which is built on the word for "I am". Exo. 3:14. The Hebrew revers God to an extent where they almost do not mention its name. The name YHWH whenever it is said is addressed along with the term " Adonai" which is said out of reverence for God. For e.g., when we address some one, we call them 'sir' followed by their names. The Hebrews in respect do not directly come the term YHWH instead they use the letters " Yahweh" similarly we also use the term "Yahweh". Our solemn desire is that the school students and teachers is to trust in God's strength and guidance alone.
